Why I decided to stay in Switzerland for 96 hours

Why did I decided to stay in Switzerland for 48 hours?

So here’s the tea. You know that nervous feeling you get before traveling? Like you are forgetting something or you think something might go wrong? Well, this was it. Actually this was one of a few things that went wrong while in Europe for a month.

Part of planning a world tour in Europe is actually booking how you will get from point A to point B, which I did not fully take into consideration when planning my world tour. Let me take you back to 24 hours before checking out of Paris…...

The original plan of this world tour was that my boyfriend and I would be staying in four different countries for 3 days each: Paris France, Bruxelles Belgium, Geneva Switzerland and Munich Germany. We took a plane from the US to Paris, however, the rest of the country hopping would be by train. One day before checking out of our hotel in Paris, my boyfriend was on Facetime with his bestie while I was doing my make up and was telling him how it takes about 12 hours to get from Paris to Bruxelles by train. When he said that I dropped my make up and ran to my computer to book train tickets for us and, unfortunately, there was no cheap or short option to get from France to Belgium. For some reason, I thought countries in Europe were closer together and took less time to get too. In my head, I thought that since everyone who travels abroad goes somewhere different every weekend, that I could easily buy a train ticket cheap from France to Brussels, but the train took an average of 10 hours to get to while a flight was more than $500. We fixed this issue by extending our stay in Paris for one more night and staying in Geneva for another day.

What did we do in Geneva?

Day 1: After our three hour train ride from Paris to Geneva, we checked into the hotel and booked a boat cruise through Viator. This cruise took us all around Geneva on the crystal clear water. Then, we went shopping and became familiarized with the area.

Day 2: After asking the front desk at the hotel what else there was to do in Geneva, she suggested to hike up to Old Town Geneva. Old Town Geneva was a hike to get too, but definitely worth it if you are there. After that, we took the ferry to get to the beach. This was a small beach that overlooked the area. After the beach, we went back to dinner and planned for our day trip to Annecy France for the last day.

Day 3: Annecy France is about a 45 minute bus trip away from Geneva at the tip of the two countries. I would compare Annecy France to Venice Italy because of the picture perfect, aesthetically pleasing sites. I was in awe when I got there how gorgeous the views were and how great the area was. For the 5 hours allotted in Annecy, we explored about 5 destinations. The pictures could not do the place justice. I was obsessed!
