Kickboxing is the ultimate cardio

A couple of days ago, I took a kickboxing class at the YMCA that is now my favorite thing. Before going into it, I thought how hard would it be to kick a target for an hour? Well I thought wrong. They managed to do a bit of everything, which I really liked. The warm ups were practicing punching and kicking in the air with some cardio mixed into it. We would kick, punch and run to the beat of some songs.

Once I started kicking the targets, it took a lot of energy out of me. We would have to keep up with the song, and as the song got faster, it got harder. We would have to follow different patterns like, "kick, kick, punch" " punch, elbow, kick" and many others. It was good because I was learning some self defense moves, but also getting a good cardio workout out of the class.

Towards the end, we tackled the dumbbell weights. I learned a lot of new exercises with the weights that I can apply to my daily workouts. We also did some exercises using the dumbbells that helped with ab structure.

By the end of the hour, I felt like I had done a complete cardio workout and I was good for the rest of the day!
